Washington Post Profiles Former President Clinton's Work on Global Issues, Including HIV/AIDS

June 01, 2005

The Washington Post on Wednesday profiled former President Clinton's focus on international issues since leaving office in 2001, including his work on HIV/AIDS through the Clinton Foundation. According to some of Clinton's aides, he aims to implement his "celebrity and networking talents" with heads of state and other "famous and wealthy people" to advocate for solutions to issues such as the AIDS pandemic, the energy crisis, poverty and religious conflict, the Post reports. Ira Magaziner, a policy adviser who worked on health care in the Clinton administration and now works on policy issues for the Clinton Foundation, said Clinton has influence that many people do not have, allowing him to draw attention to HIV/AIDS treatment and other issues (Harris, Washington Post, 6/1).
